The GIA Signs Contract for New Space in the IGT

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has announced plans to relocate its New York laboratory to the International Gem Tower (IGT), a commercial condominium building designed specifically for the international diamond, gem and jewelry trade. If construction, being done by Extell Development, goes according to plan, the building should open for business sometime in 2012. The location will be in the heart of the NYC diamond district on West 47th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue.

The GIA has promised to buy one floor in the building, approximately 30,000 square feet of space to house its staff and equipment efficiently and be able to continue its mission to serve the wholesale diamonds and jewelry industry.
